This has changed over the last few weeks. Here's what I've found... My past experience with Cashews is they cause massive inflammation of the sinuses and respiratory tract. Many of my client's sinus and respiratory problems disappear in a few days after they stop eating Cashews. For years I puzzled over why people seem to crave Cashews when they create such major health problems. Now I have my answers. Cashews are a great source of Calcium and Tryptophan and if they're "Really Raw", kept frozen instead of at room temperature, Cashews are King! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Are Your Raw Nuts Really Raw? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Another question I've had for years is why I tend toward Organic produce, except where nuts are concerned. My body seems to prefer Really Raw Nuts (cold stored) over Organic Raw Nuts (room temperature stored). I'll explain. The oils in most nuts and seeds go rancid at sustained room temperature. Many nuts and seeds slow cook at room temperature. Some - Pine Nuts, Brazil Nuts & Sunflower seeds - go rancid in days. Others like Cashews and their cousins Pistachios take weeks. And, all shelled nuts eventually go bad at room temperature. This is why most Macadamia, Brazil and Pine Nuts from health foods stores or Raw Food sites taste less than desirably. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Magic Of Toxin Filtering In Plants ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Recently I recalled a book I read years ago, where testing was done and turned up pesticides were collected in the cellulose (plant fiber) in the stalks and leaves of plants. In other words, cellulose acted as a filter for toxic substances. This test was simple. Juice carrots known to have been sprayed with DDT and see if the DDT showed up in the juice or the cellulose. The juice was clean and the cellulose filled with DDT. Cellulose in plants seems to act like the placenta in humans. Cellulose seems to filter out many toxins and just like the placenta, protects the genesis of life from toxins. In the case of humans, this means unborn children. In the case of plants, their seeds. This includes nuts. After considering this question for years I believe my preference for cold stored nuts over Organic room temperature stored nuts is the cold stored nuts work better in my body, because the cellulose of the nut trees are filtering out most of the toxins, leaving the nuts fairly clean. And since the nuts are fairly clean, my body is preferring intact oils in cold stored nuts over rancid oils in Organic, room temperature stored nuts. ~~~~~~~~~~~ King Cashew ~~~~~~~~~~~ Now King Cashew reigns again! Recently I've been eating 1/4-1/2 of Cashews each day for several weeks. Use to I could only eat a small handful and my sinuses would inflame so bad I'd be unable to breath for days. As with all nuts, as long as I eat them when the Sun is high or in a smoothie (increased water content) I have no sinus symptoms at all. This is great because Cashews are an amazing source of Calcium and Tryptophan, which is essential for: Deep sleep, feeling relaxed and feeling good. Tryptophan is essential for our body's production of many important neuro-transmitters, including Dopamine and Serotonin. Before you reach for your Anti-Depressants, Sleep Medicine or questionable Calcium Supplement, have your daily dose of King Cashew. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Where To Get Really Raw Cashews ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When buying Nuts, Seeds, Bee Pollen and Goji Berries check with your source to determine how they are stored. All these products are under 8% water, so will freeze without fracturing their enzymes. Make sure your supplier freezes all these items. You can email me for my preference of Really Raw Cashews and other cold stored nuts, seeds, Bee Pollen and Goji Berries. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Wrapping Up ~~~~~~~~~~~ If you have questions, send them along: david@radicalhealth.com Enjoy your best day ever! - David Favor
